Gen.G vs Invictus Gaming: 1:00 PM ET on October 23

Gen.G and Invictus Gaming open the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage with a best-of-one at 1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CDT) on Friday, October 23. How both teams got to Allen, and what one game decides.

Gen.G vs Invictus Gaming: 1:00 PM ET on Friday, October 23, which is 12:00 PM CDT in Allen, Texas and 17:00 UTC. A best-of-one, Swiss Round 1, match 1 of 8.

Gen.G and Invictus Gaming open the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage at 1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CDT) on Friday, October 23, in a single best-of-one game. It's the first of eight Round 1 matches that day at the Credit Union of Texas (CUTX) Event Center in Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas.

All times are Eastern Time (ET). New York is on daylight time until November 1, so that's EDT, UTC−4. Allen is an hour behind, on CDT, and the start is 17:00 UTC.

The one fixed start

1:00 PM ET is Riot's published broadcast start, so this is the only match on Friday whose time doesn't depend on another game finishing. It's also a deadline: Swiss Pick'Ems lock before the first Swiss match. Picks go in at lolesports.com/pickems or in the League client.

How they got here

  • Gen.G beat Hanwha Life Esports 3–1 in the LCK final on September 13 and are Korea's first seed.
  • Invictus Gaming came through the LPL Regional Qualifier. Top Esports beat them 3–1 on September 17, and on September 19 they beat JD Gaming 3–1 for China's fourth seed.

Round 1 was drawn by tier, with Tier 1 teams facing Tier 4 and no same-region matches. Gen.G were in Tier 1 and IG in Tier 4. This is one of two Korea–China matches on Friday; Hanwha Life Esports and Top Esports play the other an hour later.

What one game decides

Nobody goes home on Friday. Three match wins advance a team to the Knockout Stage and three match losses eliminate it. Rounds 1 and 2 are best-of-ones, and any match that decides advancement or elimination is a best-of-three.

So this game sorts two teams into the 1–0 and 0–1 pools. Round 2 is drawn right after Friday's matches, pairing teams with the same record at random, and its eight best-of-ones run hourly on Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET.

Every game is played on Patch 26.20; our patch post has what changed.

Where to watch

The rest of Friday

All eight matches, in ET, are in Worlds Swiss day 1 in Eastern Time. Next, at 2:00 PM ET: Hanwha Life Esports vs Top Esports.
